Oh Frocking Hell

With the count-down to frockage being one day, things are not looking good. Running has been hampered by a very serious knee injury – such is the fate of many a true runner (listen, I’m injured, just let me get away with that, ok? - Surely it’s a woman’s prerogative to call herself a runner if she wants?).

Due to Newton’s third Law, I have had to eat a LOT of biscuits, which has further sabotaged my ability to solve The Mystery of the Extra Stone.

AND, as if that wasn’t enough, I am now trying to iron out a serious shoe-related issue. Sparkly, pointy and lower heel, or red, fabulous and ridiculous heel? I can’t walk in either – so possibly I’m trying to address the wrong issue here.

There are various other logistical matters still to be dealt with, such as accessories to match said pair of unconfirmed shoes, keeping warm, what items will be essential handbag ingredients and my legs. Yes, my legs. They are not hairless and they are pale. And unsightly. And my dress only covers them down to my rather unwholesome knees. I have fake tan, I’ve used it before, it always ends in disaster – any other suggestions?

God – and I forgot – there is no ticket for this outing. The money has been paid and removed from evil bank, but there is no sign of a ticket. I am assured that this is not suspicious:
“No we don't have tickets - our names are with someone at the secret entrance where we don't have to queue”
Now tell me that doesn’t sound suspicious. How is a girl supposed to be reassured by that? – how am I to know that the organiser hasn’t just upped and gone to Marbella with all my money?

Mind you, perhaps I should think about it differently… what would Nancy Drew do? She would surely embrace this as an opportunity to solve another crime. And let’s be honest – a frocked up occasion is surely the ideal setting for a ND mystery? So here we go…
