The End of The Microwaved Croissant

as I sit here eating my microwaved croissant, Iwant to share with you the great excitement today has brought...  After three months of microwave meals, three months of increasing waistline, three months of no baking, three months of martinis that are just that bit too warm (no matter how long you keep the gin in the fridge, it's just never as cold as when shaken with ice)... the appliances have arrived!

Ladies and gents, we have a hob, we have an oven, we have an extractor thing for the hob, we have a fridge and we have a freezer!  (Those last two are actually one item, but I think creating a long list was a key part of the effect there).

The appliances were an incredibly generous moving in gift from my mum and dad, for which we are incredibly grateful.  We have so many other things that we need to buy for the flat, and with finding out on our first day in the flat that neither the boiler, nor the immersion tank worked, having these appliances given to us as a gift has made a massive difference.

And here they are (awaiting installation):

They are not all the same make (more on that another time) but they all came from Appliances Online - and the service was excellent.  I was kept up to date several times in advance by text regarding the arrival and time of arrival, the two men who delivered the items were really helpful and friendly.

I once had an accidental answer machine message left on my mobile, when Argos were supposed to deliver me a bed.  The message implied that the bed was integral to my occupation.  So when we got our washing machine from John Lewis, I presumed the service was so good simply because it was from John Lewis.  But it turns out that either delivery people are just a nicer bunch than previously, or John Lewis and Appliances Online just ensure that their delivery people are.

Anyway, Husband Features has just arrived back from Screwfix, so I'm going to have to go and assess just how much the bank account is likely to have been depleted by this trip...
