Today, as is obligatory on a bank holiday, Husband Features and I have spent a fair few hours in DIY shops, this time, looking for tiles.
We had a good idea what we wanted for the kitchen - as we cleaned up the red quarry floor tiles, we wanted to have something to go with that - so wanted a splash of red for the tiles - but not too much - just enough to tie it in without overwhelming the room and making it seem darker.
Our units are off-white, so we were not sure if white tiles would go. We have chosen to go with "metro" style tiles - which we found in Homebase, where we bought one red tile, one white tile and one cream tile (the latter two so that we could decide which works best with the units and the former to see if it will go ok with the floor tiles).
Having got them home, I am still not sure we've decided. I think we're happy that the red will be ok with the wall tiles - the colours are actually quite different, but there will be enough space between the wall and floor tiles for it to work). We are not sure at the moment if we'll go with the white or the cream to go with it.
Husband features likes the industrial look the white tiles create, I prefer the warmth of the cream tiles. They're on an offer that finishes today, but I think we may just have to wait until we've got more of the units in to decide.
Here is the tiles with the floor tiles (cream on the right):
