Survival of the Fittest

So, I went away for the weekend, leaving behind me the bedroom full of plants. Unfortunatelly, I had not counted on it being summer over the weekend, given the winter we've been suffering of late. However the sun shone, we all drank rose and sat outside and all seemed content in the world...

Little did I know what the plants were up to while I turned my back on them for just that minute. My bedroom has two large skylights - I live in the attic room, which is both pleasant, but at the same time dangerous - for a tall lassie.

Having abandoned the house for the weekend however, I of course left the windows closed - the recent crime spree in my general direction prompting such caution - that and the greyish clouds that looked like they might be threatening to rain in through my windows.

Anyway, left the house, windows shut for a full two days - thus creating a greenhouse effect in my boudoir. Now greenhouses are all very good for plants when combined with constant watering and attention. When combined with constant lack of attention and no watering however, it's a different matter entirely.

I returned yesterday evening to find a good many drooping leaves, some positively brown and curling.
So, thought it best to give advance warning while the owner is away for another week and a half that the plants are slightly worse for wear. Am hoping that the advance warning will give you plenty of time to cool down about the whole episode. I have been since tending to them, in a most caring fashion - so far to little avail - stubborn little critters - however I assure you, I will not be giving up on them.

Sounds like suicide to me... Jones you are not to blame...

You know, that's a good point that I had not as yet considered. Good thinking, I like it. Similarly - if today ends in plant carnage - as predicted in Plant Carnage post - a similar excuse works.
Excellent!
